How quickly I forget!

Wow, I change my blog date and then almost forget to do it! How quickly I forget things.

I am working on a custom order at this time, for a boot bracelet for a friend of mine. I have been struggling with how to make it. I got the actual strap done yesterday and here is the picture of it. Now to embellish it.

Any thoughts? The customer wants "steampunky" things on it. I have a few gears and fake watch and clock faces. Thought I would put some charms on it as well. Stay tuned, next week, I will have the finished item done.

Blog is moving to Wednesdays

I have made the decision to move my blog posts to Wednesday. I am working weekends and come home so tired that I just do not have the oomph to write my blog, so I have made the decision to change it to Wednesdays.

Some changes are happening in our lives right now. My daughter and two wonderful grandkids are moving from our house to their own place and as much as I love them, they need their own place to spread and grow. On the other hand this will free up more time for me to work on my business and grow it.

I will see you again on June 11 with my next post.

Have a great week everyone!

Some tidbits

A little late today, again. Yesterday I worked my part time job and was exhausted when I got home. Normally, I write this on Sunday and schedule it to be posted early Monday morning; however, I was too tired to move, so it is late today.

I do not have much to blog today. I have some projects in the works but I have to take some pictures of the work in progress before I can post about them. I did learn a new wirewrapping technique on Saturday and as soon as I begin the project I will use it for, I will post pictures.

The commission for the barefoot sandals is still in the works, so no news on it either.

I really want to be more proficient at my blog and that is my plan, I just have to manage my time better. I do have some health issues that sometimes prevent me from doing much of anything, but I keep trying.

Have a great day everyone!!

I am so excited!

I hope everyone had a wonderful Mother's Day, I know that I did. I got to spend it with 3 of my 10 grandkids and 2 of my 5 children. I heard from the rest except for one.

On Saturday I started my new very part time job and that was an experience. I am working at a very small convenience store about 25 miles from my home. It is located in a place where two roads converge on a very beautiful drive of the North Fork of the Coeur d'Alene River, the most beautiful drive to work in North Idaho! The owner is a very nice lady.

Last night I was messaging with a friend of mine on Facebook and she had received her barefoot sandal that I featured in a previous blog, and she has a LOT of friends. One of her friends asked her if I could sell her 50 pairs of the sandals to her and I would get credit for them. Apparently, she does a lot of shows and craft fairs. I will have to think hard about that. It is exciting though. It makes me feel validated! I have been working hard at trying to make a living making my jewelry, so this is really exciting for me.

Have a great day everyone!!

I am late today!

Wow what a weekend we had!! I won't go into details as it is a long story. I was busy, to say the least. I made a beautiful large chunky ring for a friend and she loved it!!  Here it is.

It will not be listed in my shop as it is a custom order; however, I did put it in my gallery at http://www.artfire.com/ext/shop/gallery/RoxysRox

I also finished another set of barefoot sandals for that same customer. The barefoot sandals are listed here:
http://www.artfire.com/ext/shop/product_view/RoxysRox/9193120/swarovski_crystal_and_white_pearl_with_silver_accent_barefoot_sandal/handmade/jewelry/anklets/shell_pearl.

I used to have a childcare in my home and I was able to go and listen to one of my former kids sing at a recital. She is now 16 years old and rocked the songs she sang. With a bit more practice to lose the nerves, she could sooo do "The Voice" or "America's Got Talent"

A confession!

Ok, so I am still fairly new at this blogging thing. I must confess that I have not figured out how to make it fancy like some people have theirs, but it is mine and I will get it eventually.

I am going to show a barefoot sandal that have made and not yet listed. I have never made one of these before and I am so proud of it!! Take a look and let me know what you think.

The ankle part wraps the ankle 3 times.

Seahawk bracelet is finished!!!

I had some changes last week and was released from my part-time "day job". This has freed up more time to work on my passion, jewelry!! I got the Seattle Seahawks quadruple wrap bracelet done!! I will be listing it on Tuesday, for sale, in my Artfire shop: http://www.artfire.com/ext/shop/studio/RoxysRox.
Here is a sneak peek at it.

Oh jeepers, I made a mistake. This is a triple wrap, not a quadruple wrap bracelet.

Apology for no post last week and new project

I have to apologize for not posting a blog last week. I was sick and then my grandkids got sick and it was not a pretty sight here at my house.

I have a new project I am working on in between making custom orders. It is a Seattle Seahawks colors wrap bracelet. It will be a great addition to your fan jewelry. Here are the first photos of the work in progress.

I also have a new listing on my Artfire website. It is a fun double anklet and earring set. The anklet can also be worn as a necklace. Here are the photos of it.

I hope you take a look and love it!!

Rock Roller Gem, Mineral and Jewelry Show

I finished my Catherene the Great Necklace and sent it to the customer that I made it for and she loved it!!

Currently I am working on another project; however, I do not yet have any pictures of it. It is the project that I recently referred to, asking you to think Seattle. I had started it and did not like the way it was going so I have ripped it out and have started over.

This past Saturday, we went to the Spokane Rock Roller Gem, Mineral and Jewelry Show and I was in hog heaven!! So many pretty rocks and gemstones to look at and oooh and aaaahhh over!! I could have stayed there for days. I was looking for a certain Malachite piece that I could make into a pendant and I found some, although not "The One" so I did not purchase any.

I did find a book on gemstones that I can refer to, to get more educated on them so I can identify them when I see them.  Making jewelry is always a learning process for me, anyway. I had a great time there and if you get to a chance to go to one, please do.

Catherene the Great is done!!!

I got the Catherene the Great Necklace done and shipped to the customer at the end of last week.

I am a little late getting this blog done today as I have not been home to write it. I apologize!! I will see if I can post another blog later this week to try to make up for this one being so late. I was thinking about doing a second one each week anyway.

Here is the finished necklace:

Observations and Catherene the Great Pendant

I have been blogging for a short time now (although, I have had this blog for several years now). Now I know why it sat for a longg time. I had too much on my plate, with working full time, making jewelry and taking care of my family.

Now that I am making my jewelry a full time pursuit, this blogging requires a lot more effort than just sitting down and writing your thoughts. I started planning today's post yesterday and I am still not ready to post it.

I finished my Catherene the Great bead embroidered pendant last night and grabbed a couple of photos using my cell phone so I could send them to the person that I am making it for and I could post those pictures but I know that they are not web quality pictures so I have to get out my camera and light box and take some more pictures that are web worthy. I will be back in a little while with the pictures.

Okay, I got the pictures taken and here is the finished pendant!!

The Embroidery is all done!!

I finally got the bead embroidery done on Catherene the Great. I am so proud of it. I still have to put the backing on it and make the necklace and then it will be ready to send to the customer, who happens to be a great friend of mine. I will have it all done later this week!! It has been a wonderful journey trying to get close to the picture that she liked. I hope she really likes it.

Stay tuned next week for the finished product and the beginning of my next project. Think Seattle!!

Here is the pendant!

Stormy Monday

Here we are on a Monday and it snowed all day yesterday and then in the evening it turned to freezing rain. It has warmed up to a balmy 34 degrees as I write this, and now is raining. The highways were a huge mess here in North Idaho. I guess I-90 east and west were closed for a bit.

I got some more done on Catherene the Great Pendant. It is turning out beautiful and I think my customer is going to just love it!! Take a look!!

My work in progress! Another picture of Catherene the Great!

Please be patient with me while I get the hang of blogging. This still a little new to me.

Right now I am only writing a blog on Mondays; however that may change as I figure out that I have more to say on things.

I am a little late getting started today. Darn insomnia!! I realized last week that I did not have all of the beads I needed for this project, so I had to order the beads I forgot. I am waiting to get them in the mail. I was able to get something done on the project though and here is my latest photo of it:

I have named it Catherene, the Great!

New feature in my weekly blog

It is Monday and a holiday (President's Day for those that may have forgotten) and I am late getting started this morning. I am going to begin putting work in progress pictures on my blog. I have a pendant I have started planning and trying to work out the dimensions for a special order, for a special friend. It is heart shaped and is in beautiful colors!! I am trying to determine the scale so I can resize the pendant.

Of course pictures online are mostly way different than in real life, mine included, and so to determine what size with out a pattern or directions can be tricky! That being said, this is where I am at in this project:

Progress on my Artfire shop

I now have 5 items in shop that have been revised. All of the descriptions have already been updated and the 5 items also have new pictures. They are the first 5 items in my shop. Let me know what you think. http://www.artfire.com/ext/shop/studio/RoxysRox

Revamping my website

I have had my website, http://www.artfire.com/ext/shop/studio/RoxysRox since, I think 2008, and I decided to revamp the entire site. I have only had 5 sales since it opened and decided that there was something I was not getting, so I consulted with someone on Artfire for a critique, JimJuris, http://www.artfire.com/ext/shop/studio/JimJuris and he has been giving me pointers and is helping quite a bit.

It will take me a few weeks to get it all done but I think it will result in more sales and maybe I might be able to make a living off of my site. Please be patient while my site is under construction.

Wow! I did it. I finally got into my blog account and connected it to Google+. Hopefully, this will help with promotion of my jewelry. I have not posted since 2009. I had forgotten about it until I decided to write a blog.
